The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst is a hands-on role that directs, oversees, and implements business intelligence tools, applications, dashboards, and visualizations for business and customer use. They facilitate organizational data strategies for governance, design, implementation, integration and usage, and are responsible for leading the design and maintenance of business intelligence applications using industry leading best practices for analytics design and user experience. They ensure that Populi’s business intelligence applications enhance the business decision making capabilities of our customers.

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst is both a business-facing and sometimes customer-facing role that requires a candidate with a strong data analytics background who understands data, visualization of data, metric and dimensions design, filtering and aggregation strategies, and data quality. In this highly visible role, you will partner with internal and external customers to understand their challenges and guide the Agile workstream to establish and implement products and deliverables in support of the domain. Additionally, this role will actively participate in the design and iteration of Populi’s data, API, and UI products. The ideal candidate has a passion for proactively discovering insight hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes and develop new data and analytic product offerings, and has hands-on experience with data management, dashboard development, data governance and data quality. They keep up with the latest technology and features including the latest versions of leading BI tools such as Tableau, and the most popular data visualization tools. They must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights and be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and iterate analytic dashboard and visualization templates in multiple BI tools with the goal of maximally representing the value of Populi’s data and API products
• Work with the engineering to define and improve the data catalog, data policy library, data quality, metadata, and API definitions
• Influence and actively participate in the governance and strategy framework
• Support Customers in the development and customization of business intelligence solutions
• Identify and prioritize reusable business intelligence products for productization
• Support Scaled Agile and Waterfall delivery processes as required on a case-by-case initiative basis
• Collaborate with product management and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions
• Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies
• Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers
• Research and develop predictive models for data analysis
• Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze product performance and accuracy
• Develop and share high quality documentation for developed products

Basic Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, JIRA).
• Basic system administration skills in both a Windows and Linux environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field
• 10+ years’ experience with data management, data governance, and data quality
• 5+ years’ hands-on experience building business intelligence solutions
• 2+ years’ experience leading development of business intelligence solutions
• 3+ years’ experience with multiple business intelligence tools, including Tableau
• 5+ years’ experience working with Healthcare Customer Solutions highly desired
• Experience scoping complex projects/programs and driving through to completion
• Experience with project management methodologies; Agile preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills, critical-thinking skills, strong business acumen and the proven ability to effectively articulate business objectives required
• Strong facilitation/presentation skills and experience presenting to senior leadership
• Experience in working and delivering end-to-end projects independently
• Experience working with and creating and leveraging data architectures
• The ability to teach and train others in the methodologies and practices used in data science
• Familiarity with the Atlassian product suite, including JIRA and Confluence
• A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years practical experience with Tableau and/or Power BI development
• Experience with Python and Bash shell scripting
• Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform
• High-level knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques and their application to BI solution design and implementation
• Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field
• Experience working with healthcare data, specifically healthcare insurance claims data
• Familiarity with Git and code versioning practices
