Responsibilities
- Analysis of precision Gear Systems including Aerospace Actuators, Accessory Gearboxes and Propeller Drives, Power Generation Gearboxes, and Winch Drives.
- Analysis of gearbox structure which includes integrated lubrication and cooling systems.
- Maintain the technical knowledge and awareness of developments related to aircraft drive systems through documentation of lessons learned, process and procedure development, and staying abreast of current technology breakthroughs.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop product that is producible and reliable.
- Timely preparation of associated engineering documentation including but not limited to Analysis Reports, Qualification Reports, and Engineering Changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with three or more years of relevant design experience on aerospace systems. Gears, transmissions, actuation, or similar related industry preferred.
- Experience in the analysis of high-speed rotating equipment including a good understanding of bearing analysis and spur, helical and bevel gear analysis.
- Proficiency in design and analytical software tools required (Ansys and MASTA is a plus)
- Proficiency with CAD software is required (Creo preferred).
- Experience in Gear System Design Software such as A B Jones software for bearings, Gleason software for bevel gears, and PowerGear, MASTA or ROMAX is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of tolerance stack-up and impacts to analysis
- Some understanding of properties of gear material and case hardening processes is a plus
- Understanding of properties for aluminum and magnesium castings. Understanding of properties for heat treatment of metals.

- High proficiency in written and verbal communication with the ability to compose test procedures and engineering reports
- Analytical knowledge of reliability is desirable.
- Familiarity with formal Qualification Standards such as DO160, MIL-STD-810 is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to support Project Engineering and schedules.
- Strong mechanical interface and application knowledge with demonstrated experience in meeting customer specification requirements, schedules, and cost goal expectations
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- An ability to manage tasks and the drive to follow tasks through to a successful outcome
- A willingness to embrace change and an ability to identify and implement new processes.
- The capability to work efficiently and accurately, with an attention to detail, and the discipline to self-manage.
