Responsibilities
- Support Program Managers in defining and managing resource requirements (staffing, tools, budget) for all engineering activities on assigned programs.
- Develop program technical tasks schedule, help develop overall schedule. Manage progress to schedule, and compliance with technical and program requirements, drawing releases, and technical integrity of product.
- Lead customer interface efforts, specifically weekly update meetings, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews.
- Coordinate with Engineering Test Laboratory when preparing for and executing product maturity, safety of flight and full qualification testing.
- Serve as technical interface with suppliers and customers; document meetings, discussions, decisions; concurrent development of data to support needs of internal customers.
- Track, document, help negotiate constructive changes; ensure data releases are complete accurate, on time.
- Create 3D CAD assets, and part/assembly technical drawings.
- Director of Engineering. Occasional travel (three or four times per year, a few days per trip) to customer locations in the US and international.
Qualifications
Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
A BS in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering is required; MS or graduate studies are a plus. Should be familiar with Aerospace industry, mechanical systems, and military standards and practices. Six or more years of experience working in an engineering role required.
Experience in aerospace mechanical or structural design or analysis, and project engineering, preferably including: design and drawing release; mechanical, electrical, structural, or dynamic analysis; materials, processing and finish selection; specification interpretation and preparation; manufacturing and supplier support; testing and failure analysis; evaluation of new tools and methods; supplier and customer interface; preparation of statements of work, schedules, risk abatement plans, minutes, reports, design reviews; manage technical compliance; product and process improvement; technical negotiations and problem solving; root cause analysis.
Experience in successful, on time, accurate execution of work packages and job assignments. Strong interpersonal skills are required: written and verbal communications; ability to work in a cross-functional, matrix environment; tact and diplomacy; problem resolution. Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with 3D CAD design, documentation, and configuration/change/control is required. Experience with CREO Parametric, Windchill, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD is highly desired.
