Responsibilities
- Design and analysis of gearbox assemblies used in aerospace application including accessory gearboxes, actuators, and propulsion drive.
- Act as Design Lead and the point of contact for technical information.
- Design, analysis, and troubleshooting of high-speed rotating equipment including bearing analysis, spur, helical and bevel gear (AGMA)(CAGE)(ISO).
- Design responsibilities include the design and the integration of high-speed components as well as the lubrication and cooling systems.
- Timely preparation of associated engineering documentation including modeling, drafting, model-based definition, and reports.
- Tolerance stack-up analyses and reports.
- Improve standard practices and processes.
- Design for manufacturing and performing in cross-functional teams.
- Integration with of components and subsystems into assemblies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with eight or more years of relevant design experience on aerospace systems.
- Experience in the design and analysis of high-speed rotating equipment is preferred.
- Additional experience in bearing life/analysis, housing, castings, lubrication systems, flow control would be beneficial.
- Proficiency in design and analytical software tools required (TGS primarily uses Ansys, Cobra, MASTA, and Transmission 3D)
- Proficiency with CAD software is required (TGS currently uses Creo for CAD).
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of tolerance stack-up and impacts to analysis
- Understanding of properties of gear material and case hardening processes.

- Understanding of properties for aluminum and magnesium castings. Understanding of properties for heat treatment of metals.
- High proficiency in written and verbal communication with the ability to compose test procedures and engineering reports.
- Analytical knowledge of Reliability, FMECA, RCCA and Six Sigma are desirable.
- Familiarity with formal Qualification Standards such as DO160, MIL-STD-810 is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to support Project Engineering and Project Schedules.
- Advanced Excel skills is preferred.
- Strong mechanical interface and application knowledge with demonstrated experience in meeting customer specification requirements, schedules, and cost goal expectations.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- An ability to manage multiple, complex tasks and the drive to follow tasks through to a successful outcome.
- A willingness to embrace change and an ability to identify and implement new processes.
- The capability to work efficiently and accurately, with an attention to detail, and the discipline to self-manage.
