Responsibilities
Prepares and paints surfaces of aircraft parts applying knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques, using spray painting equipment, power tools, and work aids
- Cleans, strips, sands and applies chemical solutions to prepare and condition surfaces prior to painting
- Masks and covers surfaces not to be painted
- Maintains a safe and audit-ready work area
- Reads, interprets and applies shop planning, customer specifications military specifications and Quality guidelines and MSDS knowledge and location of sheets…..same as #1
- Mixes and thins primers or paint to specified color and consistency according to standard formulas or color charts, using manual
- Paints surfaces, applying specified amount of thickness of primer, protective, decorative, or finish coatings, such as paint, lacquer, sealer, or enamel onto prepared surfaces
- Regulates controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or other coatings
- Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent
- Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with industry standards
- Monitors shelf-life items in the paint area
- Monitors paint booth and ovens to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of:
- Microsoft office basics
- Military paint specifications
- Syteline to use Item Maintenance, SRO maintenance and Incident Maintenance
- MSDS
- Skill to:
- Learn industry-related software
Must be able to obtain respiratory certification and wear a face respirator
Must successfully complete Chromium Physical
