Position Summary: Enable ThayerMahan to achieve our financial and growth objectives by maintaining current accounts and cultivating new business relationships (government and industry) by identifying, tracking, shaping, capturing, and winning relevant business opportunities.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support company business acquisition process (BAP) to include opportunity assessment, capture planning, proposal development and transition to execution.
  • Develop and maintain the processes and practices to support effective Business Development lifecycle and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Identify, qualify, shape, capture, and win relevant and strategically important long term business opportunities to achieve financial objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through understanding of customer challenges/needs.
  • Create, maintain, and execute customer accounts plans for user engagements and business growth.
  • Monitor/maintain awareness of competition product capabilities, contract wins, and marketing activities.
  • Work collaboratively across functional areas to ensure current and future technology capability fit, financial forecasting/reporting, and contract delivery/customer success.
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings, conferences, and other engagements to promote company capabilities.
  • Support the preparation/review of RFI and proposal responses.
  • Support the review of Federal Budget documents each fiscal year; identify funding sources associated with relevant business pursuits and track through the entire legislative process; provide timely updates and recommendations to executive leadership.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Prior maritime government operational experience (preferred); prior U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard operational experience (preferred)......

Required Skills:

  • Five+ years experience in business development or within a government relations senior management role.
  • Basic competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Federal government planning and budgetary systems.
  • Experience with customer resource management (CRM) tools.
  • Experience with business strategic planning and military operational planning.
  • Experience in undersea warfare (USW), anti-submarine warfare (ASW), or expeditionary warfare (EXW) mission areas.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • General office/administrative setting.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel out-of-state up to one (1) week per month (25%).

Additional notes:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Active Secret security clearance (required); active Top Secret security clearance (preferred).
